Children's Chapel

Children’s Chapel takes place during the first portion of our 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. It is open to children ages 2-12. In All Saints Parish Hall, space is set aside for a worship and learning center, staffed by “chaplains” from within our own congregation.

The weekly Chapel experience is that of “Godly Play,” a widely used and respected program of Christian education and formation that teaches children the art of using religious language, parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence around them and in their lives.” It brings the Bible to life for the children, and brings it to new life for the chaplains! Discover more about “Godly Play” at www.godlyplay.org.

Children and Holy Communion

Children return to church for the sharing of the Peace, so that they might take part in communion with their families. It is the practice of the Episcopal Church to welcome baptized children of any age to experience Jesus Christ’s presence through sharing in Holy Communion, and the decision of when a child begins to take part is a family decision. Age-appropriate counseling and teaching is available to prepare children individually for “First Communion.”

Godly Play Days

During the course of the year, “Godly Play Days” are scheduled for children and their families, usually planned on or near special dates on the church calendar, such as Saint Nicholas’ Day, the beginning of Lent, Easter, Pentecost, All Hallow’s Eve, and so forth.
Age-appropriate activities are offered to complement the children’s Sunday Chapel experience. On other occasions, a get-together is planned just for family fun!
